Targets & rules for a compliance regulatory framework
Compliance: creating a win-win situation
Regulatory compliance has become the critical boardroom issue of the decade. Regulations have grown in scope and sophistication and organisations are sometimes unsure of which obligations they need to fulfil, compounded by the fact that different laws overlap each other.

The task for the corporate information management practice and the IT Department is to not only meet the compliance challenge but support the objectives of the business while doing so. As organisations introduce new business processes or amend existing ones to address compliance issues, they have to upgrade or replace their core business packages. They have to enhance their e-mail management, records management, data storage and IT security practices. This will not be a one off event and compliance has to become a new core corporate competency that engenders information management re-assessment and business process change.

Keeping the compliance ball in play not only avoids penalty pitfalls but adds score points of efficiency improvment, creating a win-win situation.
